As Christmas’s arrival accelerates, Federal Express and, indeed, the entire post office service across the United States reach its quarterly single-day transport peak on Monday, the US Post Office estimates that 640 million mail will be delivered during the week, an increase of 33 million over last year. In the period following Thanksgiving this year and before Christmas Eve, the postal service is expected to deliver 12.7 billion cards, letters, and parcels.

According to data published by the United Kingdom’s National Bureau of Statistics (NSO), 10% of the UK’s poorest people experience higher inflation rates. In terms of consumption spending, the poor face higher consumer prices, which have grown at an average annual rate of 3.7% since 2003.

According to the U.K. Bureau of Statistics, consumption spending is so uneven between the rich and poor that it reveals changes in the prices of food, fuel, and energy, which are consumed by households with lower consumption levels.
