香港科技大學（科大）近日推出科大「區塊鏈證書」平台，為畢業證書、學業成績單等認證提供了一個方便、安全可信的系統，有助打擊偽造證書，並籍此推廣無紙化與可持續發展校園。
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HUST) recently launched the Science and Technology University's "Class Chain Certificate" platform, which provides a convenient, secure and credible system for the recognition of certificates of graduation and academic achievement, which helps to combat the forgery of certificates and promotes paperless and sustainable development of the campus.
現時，畢業生每需要一份紙本畢業證書，均需向大學提出要求並付款，既不環保又費時，為畢業生與雇主雙方帶來麻煩。作為香港首間大學推出以區塊鏈技術為基礎的學位認證系統，科大希望帶領潮流，逐步取代傳統的列印本證書，並期望此認證平台能有助遏止偽造學歷等非法活動。
As the first university in Hong Kong, with a degree recognition system based on sector chain technology, the University hopes to lead the tide and gradually replace the traditional printed certificate, and expects that the platform will help curb illegal activities such as forgery.
科大畢業生將於本月底開始收到校方經電郵發送、獲加密簽署及具防篡改功能的電子畢業證書。大學亦會於本年11月向畢業生提供電子學業成績單﹔有需要提前取得電子成績單的學生也可自9月份起向校方提出個別申請。
At the end of the month, university graduates will receive electronic certificates of completion by e-mail, encrypted signatures, and tamper-proofing.
大學已向多個雇主推廣此新措施，當中包括國際背景調查機構首優諮詢、綜合電訊及科技方案供應商香港寬頻，以及稅務及審計顧問羅兵咸永道。業界對此新技術態度正面並予以支持。

為確保檔案的完整及可靠性，區塊鏈透過加密技術將俗稱「區塊」的一系列數據串連。每個區塊均含有其獨特的標識符號「哈希值」，與前一個區塊的哈希值依序排列。因此如果任何一個區塊的數據被篡改，其哈希值與前一個區塊哈希值的序列會被搗亂，令整個區塊鏈失效，使用者便會發現檔案被篡改，從而有效確保系統的完整性。
In order to ensure the integrity and reliability of the file, a block chain is linked through encryption techniques to a series of data that is commonly referred to as " block ". Each block contains its unique symbol " Hashi ", arranged in order of the Hashi value of the previous block. Therefore, if the data of any block is tampered with, its Hashi value and the sequence of the previous Hashi value are disrupted, rendering the entire section unwieldy, the user will discover that the file has been tampered with to effectively ensure the integrity of the system.
「區塊鏈證書」項目成員、科大計算機科學系助理教授陳啟峰表示：「區塊鏈是一種高度安全的新興技術，容許多方於無可信中介人在場的情況下進行交易。很多行業如金融或電玩業界等，已因而開始利用區塊鏈開發不同程式和應用方案，以提高其業務效率，這將使我們邁向一個更加智能的社會。」
“The chain is a highly secure new technology that allows many parties to trade in the field without credible intermediaries. Many businesses, such as the financial or video industry, have begun to use the chain to develop different programs and applications to improve their efficiency, which will lead us to a more intelligent society.”
大學將「區塊鏈證書」數據儲存在其受保護的伺服器上，雇主及任何第三方使用者可隨時隨地於大學的官方網站上(https://registry.ust.hk/verify)，透過幾個簡單步驟，驗證科大畢業生的畢業證書和學業成績單。
