不久前的“元宇宙100人采访”栏目中,游戏日报邀约到了MetaArks制作团队的联合创始人之一陈应传,和他聊了聊这款由传统游戏团队打造的区块链游戏。当时应传提出了一个让游戏日报印象深刻的观点:MetaArks的目标不只是区块链用户,还有传统游戏玩家。

In a recent article, the Daily Games invited Chen, one of the co-founders of the MetaArks production team, to talk to him about this block chain game, which was built by the traditional game team. At that time, it should be said that the Daily Games had an impressive view: MetaArks was not just about the user of the block chain, but also about the player of the traditional game.

陈应传对此的解释是“传统游戏玩家们一直渴望能让游戏资产真正成为自己的资产”,而区块链的特性之一正是资产私有化。

The explanation for this is that “traditional game players have longed to make game assets their own” and that one of the characteristics of the block chain is the privatization of assets.

在游戏日报看来,这个用户目标一定程度上也透露出了制作团队对MetaArks品质的自信,毕竟传统游戏玩家经历了太多优质产品,已经是具有“门槛”的用户群了。如果它真的能在传统游戏玩家中“达标”,对于当下的区块链游戏领域竞品,将会是降维打击。

In the Daily Games, this user goal also reveals, to some extent, the confidence of the production team in the quality of MetaArks, after all, that traditional game players have gone through too many high-quality products and are already a “threshold” group of users. If it can really “satisfactory” at home in traditional games, it will be a knock-on for competitions in the immediate area of block-chain games.

那么这款“敢打传统玩家主意”的区块链游戏,具体长什么样子?都做了哪些玩法体验设计?本篇文章我们就从产品的角度来再次评估下MetaArks。

So, what's this block chain game of "Course to play with the idea of a traditional player"? What kind of play experience design is it? We'll re-evaluate MetaArks from the point of view of the product.

一、二次元画风MetaArks是一款什么样的游戏?

What kind of game is it?

目前MetaArks没有太多的产品资料对外曝光,但并不是停留在Demo阶段,陈应传告诉游戏日报团队已经开发了1年有余,然后计划在10月份左右开启封测。从制作团队给我们的视频中,可以看出部分MetaArks的产品表现与设计思路。

At present, MetaArks does not have much product exposure, but it does not stop at the Demo stage, where the Daily Games team has been developed for over a year, and plans to open an seal around October. From the video that the production team gave us, some of MetaArks' product performance and design ideas can be seen.

MetaArks的画风偏向二次元,Q版的3D角色建模算不上太精细,但符合主流二次元爱好者的审美,这大概也是出于“用户全球化”的考虑。

MetaArks has a two-bit view, and the Q version of the 3D role model is not too fine, but it is in line with the aesthetics of mainstream secondary fans, probably because of “user globalization”.

从耳朵等细节来看,角色有较为简单的捏脸塑形,而装扮系统会很丰富,发型、配饰、服装外观、武器等等,可能是满足玩家差异化形象需求的重要支撑。但考虑到区块链游戏产品的特性,初始形象或许会以提前设定好的NFT角色为准。

From the details of the role, such as ears, there is a simpler face-stamping, and the costume system will be rich, with hairstyles, accessories, clothing appearances, weapons, etc., which may be an important support for meeting players’ need for differentiated images. But, given the characteristics of block-chained games, the initial image may be based on a predefined NFT role.

游戏地图可包括了比较丰富的场景,有丛林、海岸、草原、山脉等等地形,在其中玩家可以种植农作物、砍伐树木、挖掘矿产以及钓鱼等等,这些收集来的资源则是用来建造居所。

The map of the game could include a relatively rich landscape of jungles, coasts, grasslands, mountains, etc. in which players could grow crops, cut trees, dig minerals and fish, etc. The resources collected were used to build dwellings.

建造过程类似于《我的世界》,需要自己进行材料的放置组合,如果没有空间限制的话,即便是把房间内部打造成一个巨大迷宫都能实现。这也是视频展现的主要玩法,考虑到目前公开的视频中没有看到NPC,可能不会有太多线性剧情和引导,更多是让玩家自由地建造。

The construction process is similar to My World, which requires a mix of materials, even if it creates a huge maze inside the room, without space constraints. This is the main game of video displays. Given that NPCs are not seen in the current open video, there may not be too many linear dramas and guides, much more so that the players are free to build.

具体到表现细节上,MetaArks不追求过度的“真实性”,但在不少地方都能看出制作的用心,例如在流水中、峭壁上凸起的岩石,上面会有些较为明显的划痕。

Specifically, in the details of the performance, MetaArks does not seek excessive “reality”, but in a number of places it can be seen to be made, for example, in the flow of water, in rocks swollen on cliffs, some of which are marked with more visible marks.

此外MetaArks比较有吸引力的一点则是天气系统,是随着时间变化而渐变,有日出、日落、星空等不同的背景,从而带来不同的视觉享受。当然也有一些比较恶劣的天气,而甚至让角色都无法正在完成资源的收集,而这也就涉及到制作团队对“加强社交”的思考了。

Moreover, what is more attractive is the weather system, which evolves over time, with different backgrounds, such as sunrise, sunset, and stars, bringing different visual enjoyments. There are, of course, worse weather conditions, which make it impossible for the players even to complete the collection of resources, which involves thinking about “enhanced socialization” by the production team.

以上就是MetaArks的第一个阶段能玩到的内容了,类型比较偏向于任天堂《动物森友会》,根据应传透露,未来MetaArks还会有两个重点的大阶段,第二阶段将会加入丰富的各类小游戏,做成类似于任天堂《马里奥派对》的产品,第三阶段会加入宠物系统。

This is what MetaArks can play in the first phase, which is more inclined towards Nintendo Animal Friends, where, according to the revelations, the future MetaArks will have two more major phases, the second phase of which will include a rich variety of small games, a product similar to Nintendo Mario parties, and the third phase of the pet system.

另外值得注意的是,MetaArks并没有做RPG战斗环节,而且从采访来看或许未来也不打算加入,制作团队的想法是不希望大家过于关注战力而导致缩短游戏生命周期。

It is also worth noting that MetaArks did not do the RPG combat and may not be expected to join in the future from interviews, and that the idea of the production team was not to focus too much on fighting to shorten the life cycle of the game.

二、怎么留住玩家?怎么带动玩家的社交兴趣

无论是区块链游戏还是传统游戏,如何留住玩家都是最重要的课题,而此前的区块链游戏已经证明只靠“赚钱”行不通,即便是再头部的产品(例如当初月收入超《王者荣耀》的Axie Infinity),也可能因为经济系统的波动而出现用户大量流失,难以持续运营的情况。

Whether it is block-chain games or traditional games, how to retain players is the most important topic, and the previous block-chain games have proved that “making money” alone is not a viable option, and even the products of the head (e.g. Axie Infinity, which originally had a monthly income above the King's Glory) may result in a significant loss of users due to fluctuations in the economic system, making it difficult for them to operate on a sustainable basis.

对于怎么做到长线运营,MetaArks的核心思路是强化社交,制作团队想要做GameFi × SocialFi,他们认为有社交的Web3才是真正有灵魂的GameFi 2.0。

For long-line operations, the central idea of MetaArks is to strengthen socialization, and the production team wants to be GameFi × SocialFi, who believes that socialWeb3 is the real GameFi 2.0.

这个思路具体到设计与运营环节上,目前主要能看到两个核心方案:

This approach is specific to the design and operations components, and two core programmes are currently visible:

1)扎根Discord做用户挖掘与社群维护

1) Root Discord for User Excavation and Community Defense

Discord是目前web3用户的主要集中平台,可以理解为明星粉丝与微博的关系,MetaArks目前已经在该平台聚拢了4000余用户,而且团队认为在产品推出后,这些前期积累的经验可以复刻去做推广,并很快突破预期用户数量目标。

Discord, currently the main centralized platform for web3 users, can be understood as the relationship between star fans and microblogging, where MetaArks now gathers over 4,000 users, and the team believes that the experience accumulated in the previous period could be replicated once the product is rolled out and quickly out of the target number of users expected.

MetaArks对Discord的定位就是作为游戏的“冒险者大厅”,会通过技术串联来让Discord成为即时交流工具,此外他们也会在Discord做身份组,类似《魔兽世界》称号一样,能让用户在游戏里获得实质的福利,最终实现MetaArks与Discord的深度绑定。

The position of MetaArks to Discord is that of the Adventurer Hall of the game, which will be used as an instant communication tool through a technical connection. In addition, they will act as identity groups in Discord, which, like the World of Monsters, will enable users to obtain substantial benefits in the game and eventually achieve a deep binding of MetaArks and Discord.

应传认为,这能让MetaArks的玩家在游戏过程中找到更多志同道合的朋友,同时也能通过玩家的内容实现在平台上吸引更多精准用户的目的。

It should be understood that this will enable MetaArks players to find more like-minded friends during the game, while also achieving the purpose of attracting more accurate users on the platform through the content of the player.

此外,MetaArks也会和同样集中在Discord上的蓝筹项目(有知名度,且长期稳定的NFT)合作,通过合作使他们的NFT形式以3D建模的形式进入到MetaArks中,实现共赢。

In addition, MetaArks will work with the Blue Fund-raising project (known and long-term stable NFT), which is also concentrated on Discord, to bring their NFT forms into the MetaArks in the form of 3D modelling.

2)设计上强化“互动”的必要性

玩法方面,MetaArks也做了一些设计来去推动社交,例如:玩家持有NFT后会随机空投土地,而这些土地上的资源分布是有所不同的,也就是说如果想更快获取某些资源,免不了与其他玩家的交流。基于这个逻辑之上的,还有天气系统和图鉴成就来催生影响:

In terms of play, MetaArks has also designed to promote socialization, for example, when players have NFTs, they drop land randomly, and the distribution of resources on these lands is different, meaning that if they want to get some resources more quickly, they can interact with other players. On the basis of this logic, there are also weather systems and visual achievements that have an impact:

当遇到坏天气的时候,自己的土地无法采集,就需要串门;而图鉴成则会刺激玩家想要尽快集齐,和其他玩家互通更容易达成这一目标。

When it comes to bad weather, one cannot collect its own land, and a chain of doors is needed; the mapping will stimulate players to come together as quickly as possible and to communicate more easily with other players to achieve this goal.

此外,玩家如果想要在MetaArks获取一些稀有资源,也同样需要更多的伙伴才能实现。制作团队会把部分资源回馈到游戏中,以神兽宝箱的形式出现在土地上,里面是高价值资产。正如前面所言不存在RPG环节,其打开方式是需要多人互动开启的,这也能催发社交氛围。

In addition, players need more partners if they want to get some of the scarce resources in MetaArks. The production team returns some of the resources to the game and shows them on the land in the form of a treasure box of beasts, which is a high-value asset. As stated earlier, there is no RPG link, which is opened in a way that requires many people to interact with each other, which can also trigger a social atmosphere.

整体来看,MetaArks无论是游戏外还是游戏里,运营都和“做社交”有着强关联,而其带来的生态价值也是可预见的:一方面经济系统在推动玩家去加强社交,另一方面社交强化后也会给经济系统带来更强的稳定性,从而实现长线运营。

Overall, MetaArks has a strong link to “socialization”, both outside and in the game, and its ecological value is predictable: on the one hand, economic systems promote players to enhance socialization and, on the other hand, socialization can bring greater stability to the economic system, thereby making long-line operations.

三、团队的脚踏实地,也是这款产品给外界的信心之一

, the team's foot is on the ground, and it's one of the things that gives confidence to the outside world.

不同于我们接触到的其他区块链游戏团队,尽管这款产品自带“先发优势”,可能是最早上线的由传统游戏团队打造的区块链游戏(意味着在游戏性上会明显超越竞品),但MetaArks并不急于求成,交流中很多细节都能看到这个团队脚踏实地的理性心态,例如:

Unlike the other block chain teams we've come across, and although this product has its own “first-in-the-first advantage” and may be the first-line block chain games to be built by traditional game teams (which means that they will clearly outpace competitions in play), MetaArks is not in a hurry, and many of the details of the exchange can be seen in the team's rational mindset on the ground, such as:

客观承认当前区块链游戏市场的复杂分散,不强求一定在前期把NFT发售完(初期规划了9999个NFT角色和10万个NFT土地);

Objectively acknowledge the complexity and fragmentation of the current market for block chain games and the need not for NFT to be sold out in advance (9999 NFT roles and 100,000 NFT land initially planned);

不会因为游戏本身质量提升,就忽视传统区块链游戏经济崩盘的问题,选择往平台化“收门票”路线去做创新尝试;

It is not because the quality of the game itself has improved that the economic collapse of traditional block-chain games has been ignored and innovative attempts have been made on the platform-based “take-out” route;

更重视游戏的社交环境,强调用户归属感,基于社交去做经济系统;目标玩家也不只是区块链用户,还包括了传统游戏用户。

Greater emphasis is placed on the social environment of the game, emphasizing a sense of user belonging and socialization as an economic system; the target player is not just a block-chain user, but also a traditional game user.

当然,不能因为MetaArks的谨慎表达就无视他们本身的积累,30多人全力做项目1年多,这个团队已经对未来做了具体的验证。

Of course, the careful expression of MetaArks should not ignore their own accumulation, with more than 30 people working on the project for more than a year, and the team has made a concrete test of the future.

陈应传在交流中就有提到,早期在做用户时选错了方法,买量做了一段时间才发现并不适用于区块链游戏,不过现在团队找到了思路,社区已经积累了4000多人,后续就是把方法复刻拓展,会比较容易达成用户量目标,而这其实就是区块链游戏最关键的启动基础。

另外能让外界对他们产品有更强信心的,还有其开发团队的构成。

其主制作团队参与过大宇《轩辕剑-汉之云》、世嘉《魔法气泡》和中华网龙的《黄易群侠传》等产品,跟很多大厂都有合作,游戏顾问是中青宝和传奇网路出身、《精灵乐章》的召集制作人OGG。这些丰富的从业经历和经验,落到产品上都是品质的保障。

结语:传统游戏团队入局区块链游戏领域,必然会带来整个大环境的变化,但能不能避免原区块链游戏的弊病,找到更成熟稳定的发展方式,仍是个待考证的未来。MetaArks等产品的出现,将会给我们带来一个可预见的答案,期待其后续的更多动态。

Conclusions: The entry of a traditional game team into the area of block chain games will inevitably bring about a change in the environment as a whole, but finding a more mature and stable way to develop will remain a future to be tested if the problems of the original block chain are avoided. The emergence of products such as MetaArks will provide us with a predictable answer and expect more of its follow-up.
